American (born 1954)

Location: Hearthwood Elementary, Vancouver

About the Artwork

Artist Michele Maynard created the six-panel artwork Hearthwood Elementary Fiberwork using a unique weaving technique. She cut canvas into strips and wove it into cotton twine before painting each side. The vibrant and whimsical compositions feature geometric designs and images of sweaters and pants. She suspended the panels from the ceiling so you viewers can enjoy the piece from many different angles.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.
