About the Artwork

Fanshen is a drawing by artist Bobbi Lurie. It is part of her "Internal Landscapes" series of drawings. She composed these drawings using a spontaneous process while listening to music. She notes that they suggest "a sense that my inner longings and feelings were being liberated onto paper." The title of this piece refers to the Chinese term "to enter a new world." It represents the artist's inner awareness and expressiveness.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Dayton School District.
