About the Artwork

Secrets from the Deep is a mixed-media wall sculpture by artist Katherine Holzknecht that combines painted dowels and copper-wrapped cedar roots to abstractly symbolize the gradation of terrain the artist observed hiking a ravine near Mount Si, Washington that had been eroded by spring floods. The artist notes that this piece is inspired by "the amazing power of nature at work."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with North Kitsap School District.
