To Pink I, 1981

American (born 1956)

About the Artwork

To Pink I is part of a series of prints by artist Carol Parlato. A pink shape determines the focus of the composition for each print in the series. In this piece, she notes that the pink shape references a diving fish or bird. She notes, "The colors and shapes in the piece refer to landscape and are eccentric to my personal vision. My concerns are with the layering of color and the overlapping of shapes. The pinholes which interrupt the fields of color are also a clue to the layering process."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
