About the Artwork
Test Pit II is part of artist Madge Gleeson’s series of imaginative landscapes. In this piece, she places the rooms of a house as if part of the forest floor. These works use archaeological themes to play with the tension between fantasy and reality. She notes that the imagery suggests the feeling of “searching for meanings which are hidden through time and circumstance.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Union Gap School District.
