About the Artwork
Lake Union is a richly detailed woodblock print by artist Michael Dal Cerro. It is part of a body of work that feature waterfront scenes, created while the artist lived in Seattle. The imagery reflects the artist’s interest in the mixture of architectural structures like bridges, docks, and boat landings found on the waterfront. The artist notes that when he is painting buildings, ships, and other objects, “I think about how natural forces like rain, time, decay or even gravity might affect the structures I am painting.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Administrative Office of the Courts.
