About the Artwork
Crab Claw is part of artist Emily Silver's body of still life paintings. This composition plays with pattern, color, and negative space. She notes, "The rolling blue striped cloth at the top of the page suggests the landscape-like element which reflects my consideration that the tiny still lives I assemble are microcosms for a larger, somewhat surreal, imagined world."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
