About the Artwork

The Triumph of the Imagination is a realistic still-life painting created by artist Fred Sodt. He filled this composition with objects that symbolize the power of human imagination. He placed the objects to create a sense of energy and movement. The objects suggest themes of time, exploration, and taking risks. He notes, "I wanted to show that our imaginations are inquisitive, playful, and inventive, and that nature offers us limitless opportunities for creative involvement." About the Artist

Sodt received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham (Northwestern Washington) and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg. He has taught art at Skagit Valley College, Whatcom Community College, and other institutions around Washington State.
