Color Guard Marching to A Private Beat is a textile installation created by artist Louise Kodis. Eight colorful banners hang in tiers above a stairwell. The title refers to a "color guard" or a uniformed group that carry flags and perform with a marching band during ceremonies and parades.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
About the Artist
Spokane, Eastern Washington-based artist Louise Kodis creates wall hangings and installations made from colorful textiles.
Kodis studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in California. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1964.
