About the Artwork
Jim Vollmer composed the stained glass window Champaign Taste as an exploration of the geometric ratios used in German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer's wood engraving titled "Penitent David" from 1510. Vollmer notes that the imagery of the artwork can be interpreted as the spatial visualization of a musical ratio of fifths, and notes, "the use of musical (mathematical) ratios lends the artist an invaluable tool with which to establish scale and proportion for any work of art."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Clark College.
