About the Artwork

In her landscape painting The Poplars, artist Linda Okazaki uses vibrant colors to depict a row of trees blowing in the wind. She notes that her energetic and stylized forms reference “flames of fire, or paintbrushes stuck in the landscape.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.

About the Artist

Port Townsend, Washington-based artist Linda Okazaki creates narrative, landscape, and still-life paintings.
Okazaki earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1974. She was a member of Washington State University's Fine Arts Department for seven years. She currently teaches at the Port Townsend School of the Arts on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington, where she also lives and paints.
