About the Artwork
Cougar is a cast bronze sculpture created by artist Barbara Minas. She sculpted the cougar form using the lost wax casting method. In this process, she forms plaster around a wax model, which she then melts out and pours in molten bronze.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Curlew School District.
About the Artist
Barbara Minas is an Arizona-based artist and author. Born in Indiana, Minas grew up in Arizona and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Puget Sound, both in Tacoma, Western Washington. She currently lives in Arizona.
