About the Artwork

Stillaguamish & Base of White Horse Mountain is a sumi painting created by artist Angie Dixon based on sketches and memories of the landscape before the snow melt in the spring of 1978. Speaking to her choice of material for this piece, the artist notes that "the Pacific Northwest lends itself particularly to this mood because of its multitude of grays. With all the mist, clouds, water, and mountains in the area, sumi seems a media naturally suited for expression here."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Administrative Office of the Courts.
