About the Artwork
Artist Jim Colbert painted Kendall Mountain Sunset as an exploration of one's sense of place. The imagery depicts a mountain range in Colorado, and was executed in a gestural style that is both realistic and expressive. Colbert described his motivation and process in painting his landscapes, noting: "my excitement derives from taking part physically, mentally, visually in the landscape. Moving from here to there, seeing how the parts fit together, how things are formed and undone."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Yakima School District.
