About the Artwork
Artist Brian Henderson created this steel sculpture for Riverside High School. A group of six figures circles a central pyramid. The figures include a graduate, welder, musician, basketball player, cheerleader and orator. These figures symbolize the goals and pursuits of Riverside students.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Riverside School District.
About the Artist
Late artist Brian Henderson (1946-1995) was a Spokane-based sculptor. An avid runner, he designed the logo for the annual Lilac Bloomsday Run, held in Spokane on the first week of May since 1977.
Henderson graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington.
