About the Artwork
Late Vashon Island-based artist Art Hansen created The Pond - February 1978 as part of a body of work drawn both from observation and from imagination. The natural landscape of his home inspired the prints. This piece uses negative space to imply the pond and sky set in the background behind lush forest growth. He noted, "This subject was drawn on location - not far from where I live."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
