About the Artwork

Open Blue Boat is an oil painting by artist Jeffrey Keith. He created the composition by layering up color and paint using a large palette knife. Keith notes that this piece explores two main ideas. The first is "travel as experience and indeed a metaphor for our complete life line." He describes the second as "emotional openness, even vulnerability."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Eatonville School District.

Denver, Colorado-based painter Jeffrey Keith creates expressive compositions that explore color and abstract forms. He teaches color theory, painting, and drawing at the University of Denver School of Art and Art History.
