About the Artwork

History of Monroe is a four-part series of richly detailed murals created by artist James Davis for Park Place Middle School. The murals feature oval-shaped "windows" into scenes representing Monroe's history and landmarks.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Monroe School District.

About the Artist

Late artist James L. Davis (1934-2015) was a Monroe, Washington-based art teacher, author and illustrator. He taught for the Snohomish School District for seventeen years. The Arts Council of Snohomish County named him Artist of the Year in 2014.
