About the Artwork

Going Home is part of artist Sally Sellers' series of quilts composed with repeating and skewed imagery of houses. Sellers began the series after her young daughter was moved from home to a nursing facility due to serious illness. Sellers notes that the body of work was created to challenge the concept of what a home is, and as a meditation on the instincts to nurture and protect. She states, "my thinking with this piece is that often it takes many attempts to get to the core of one's being, to reach a place of contentment."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
