Nine Mile is a wood sculpture created by artist Brian Henderson for Nine Mile Falls Elementary. Using stylized imagery, he captures the landscape of Nine Mile Falls. He uses negative space to imply the Spokane River.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Nine Mile Falls School District.
About the Artist
Late artist Brian Henderson (1946-1995) was a Spokane-based sculptor. An avid runner, he designed the logo for the annual Lilac Bloomsday Run, held in Spokane on the first week of May since 1977.
Henderson graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington.
