About the Artwork

'Dream Cloth’ is a textile artwork created by artist Kathleen Coyle. It was constructed with painted elements, stencils, sequins, and appliqués. The artist notes that the piece represents different kinds of dreams. She states, “I created it because I enjoy and value dreams. The images on the boarder (in reverse applique) represent strong dreams that stay with a person their whole life. They are cut in a person’s cloth, so to speak.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with North Thurston Public Schools.

About the Artist

Kathleen Coyle is a Seattle-based artist who creates textiles, mixed media artworks, and jewelry.
Coyle attended Kent State University as a Design and Craft major from 1975 to 1977. In the summer of 1977, she traveled around the United States before landing in Seattle. In 1982, she graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design.
