Waxing and Waning is a richly patterned and colorful painting by artist Cathy Schoenberg. The vibrant interior scene features two dancing figures. The title suggests phases of the moon. She notes that her travels to Spain, Morocco, Mexico, and Guatemala influence her paintings.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Yakima School District.

About the Artist

Northwest artist Cathy Schoenberg creates colorful figurative paintings. Born in Spokane, Eastern Washington, Schoenberg received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Fort Wright College (in Spokane). She lives and works in Mount Vernon, Northwestern Washington.
