Reflection at Grand Hotel, 1988

American (born 1952)
Location: Park Place Middle School, Monroe
About the Artwork
Reflection at Grand Hotel is part of artist Sherrie Wolf's body of etchings that highlight the reflective quality of water. She created the piece using multiple etching techniques, including spitbite and aquatint. Each technique involves different ways of protecting and exposing a copper plate to strong acid. The acid "etches" the plate, which is then loaded with ink and transferred to paper. Different processes allows her to create various textures and values for the colored sections of her composition.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Monroe School District.
