About the Artwork

Room Full of Blues’ by Liza vonRosenstiel was created during a three-month painting fellowship in Taos, New Mexico. The artist uses rich blue hues and a simple composition to depict and confront her feelings. She notes, “I didn’t know anyone and went for days without speaking to anyone. I listed to “The Blues” on the radio. I often sat at the window, at night, watching the moon. I loved being there, but I also felt disconnected and a bit adrift.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Olympic College.
