About the Artwork

Pied Piper is a glass and ceramic mosaic vessel created by artist Ann Gardner from collected pieces of broken kitchen plates, figurines and other found items. Garnder notes that her method of assembling objects to create this sculpture is "like knitting a sweater, making a pie, a nurturing activity."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bethel School District.

About the Artist

Seattle-based artist Ann Gardner creates sculptures using glass and mosaic materials. Her works explore pattern and rhythm in organic forms. She studied ceramics and fine art at the University of Oregon and Portland State University.
