Artist Melvinita Hooper created the detailed and colorful painting Cow with a Peruvian Church. The artist notes, "This painting expresses my interest in folk art, particularly in Mexican, Central and South American… I also love animals, color, patterns and flowers."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Creston School District.
About the Artist
Melvinita Hooper is painter. Of her art practice, Hooper notes, "I collect folkart and use much of it as a sources of inspiration. I like the clarity, directness and the fact the folkart is not contrived or meant to be 'art'." She currently lives in Mexico.
