About the Artwork

Artist Larry Anderson created the bronze sculpture Alcott for Louisa May Alcott Elementary in Redmond, Northwestern Washington. Shaped like a book, the sculpture is made up of five "pages" with cut-out silhouettes of different people. The author Louisa May Alcott, known for her classic novel "Little Women", inspired the sculpture.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lake Washington School District.

About the Artist

Based in Tacoma, Western Washington, artist and teacher Larry Anderson creates sculptures in bronze, wood and stone.
Anderson recieved a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Washington State College in Ellensburg and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Cranbrook Art Academy in Michigan. He interned at Blue Heron Foundry, a Centrum Foundation program at Fort Warden State Park in Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington.
