American (born 1954)

About the Artwork

Ocotilla Fiesta is part of a series of woven wall sculptures created by artist Katherine Holzknecht using found objects and interwoven wires. Intrigued by the structural possibilities of cast-off computer parts, the artist notes how the multicolored wires that comprise this piece reminded her of ocotillos, a type of cactus common in the Arizona desert where she spent her childhood.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Green River College.
