About the Artwork
Bed of Stones is a lithograph print by artist Christy Wyckoff, created by layering ink transferred from a slab of pure limestone and multiple aluminum plates that are each "etched" with a part of the image, drawn by the artist. The imagery is based on a photograph the artist captured on the banks of the Umatilla river in Northeast Oregon.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State University.
About the Artist
Portland, Oregon-based artist Christy Wyckoff creates prints, drawings and paintings that explore the "intersection between abstraction and representation."
Wyckoff received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon and a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1971. He is Professor Emeritus at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, and retired as chair of the printmaking department in 2012.
