About the Artwork

Migration is a symbolic, two-column sculpture by Chinese-American artist Haiying Wu. One column is topped with a complex, branching tree-like form, and the other column is topped with stylized birds flying in formation.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Moses Lake School District.

About the Artist

Artist Haiying Wu creates figurative sculptures for public spaces. Born in China, Wu attended the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He worked as a sculptor creating public artworks in Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan province. After emigrating to the United States, Wu earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Washington in Seattle. He has created well-known memorials around the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the United States. He is based in Western Washington.
