About the Artwork

Sculptor Tony Angell, whose work celebrates the majesty of wildlife, carved the three figures that comprise Parliament of Owls from a single piece of limestone. This work symbolizes togetherness, unity, and shared wisdom.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Whatcom Community College.

About the Artist

Tony Angell mainly creates sculptures that focus on birds. He is also a writer of books that investigate birds, the natural world, and environmental subjects.
Angell notes, "The subtle complexity of life in the Northwest requires, for me, the process of art to understand and find my place within it."
