American (born 1947)

Location: Brewster High School, Brewster

About the Artwork

Inspired to create a painting about music, dance, landscape and love, Samba depicts two figures based on characters from the Brazillian film "Black Orpheus," which is an adaptation of the Greek Legend of Opheus and Euridyce. Artist Linda Okazaki set these figures against a seascape background to emphasize the "fluid quality of the music and dance."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Brewster School District.
