About the Artwork

North Cascades features two panels of a panoramic view of the Glacier Peak Wilderness area. The landscapes show the south side of Glacier Peak and an eastern view of the Suiattle Glacier. Both are located in the North Cascades mountain range that extends from Washington State into British Columbia, Canada. Artist Patrick Anderson created the imagery on location after hiking into the wilderness. He cut shapes from stencil film so he could create the composition in any type of weather. Anderson states that his imagery references geological maps. He notes that these prints "attempt to map what I felt as I looked at my environment, how that environment makes me feel."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Brewster School District.
