About the Artwork
Below the Mountain is a figurative landscape painting by artist Roger Jones. The richly detailed scene highlights different colors, textures, and elements in the natural landscape. The artist notes, “My art work comes from my eye’s attraction to what appears relevant in today’s landscape and a delight in the challenge of creating a meaningful composition that not only will capture the viewer’s eye, but may also teach and move it through the painting.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Sultan School District.
