About the Artwork
How Do You Spell Relief? is a glass and fabric sculpture created by artist Louise Kodis in collaboration with glass artist David Glass. They set out to create an artwork that represents a map, but one made out of unusual materials. They note, "The fabric is chosen to enhance the glass and blend with it, as well as add a textural detail to the entire piece that would not be achieved with glass alone... We feel we have successfully finished a piece when the two materials have come together in a convincing, balanced, whole work that looks as if it were done with one artistic thought beginning to end."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Kitsap School District.
