About the Artwork

Near Pasco is part of a body of landscape paintings by artist Anne Fiske that express the feeling of being in nature. This watercolor captures fabric-like folds of Eastern Washington canyons, illuminated by the evening sun. She notes, “I set out to seek big open space sites in the landscape that conformed to compositions I wanted. I sketch from life, as I want the painting to be about a true and memorable experience.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Vancouver Public Schools.
