About the Artwork

Hwy 261, Starbuck WA is the initial piece in artist Gayle Bard's body of work investigating the Washington landscape. Exploring the dynamic between color and contour, this piece depicts wheat fields and tree-covered hills. Bard notes that this and other oil paintings in the series "exist somewhere between my memory and my imagination."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State House.
