About the Artwork
Spiral House is a ceramic mosaic sculpture by artist Tucker Petertil. The idea for this piece grew out of his house-shaped mosaics frames. This body of work references religious triptychs. He states, "the triptych format came from the portable shrines that traveling monks carried and could pack up easily and unfold for ceremonies and prayers as they made they pilgrimages." Building on this idea of a shrine, he extends his composition into three dimensions with Spiral House.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
