About the Artwork
Quadruped Teapot with Companion is a porcelain sculpture created by ceramic artist Gina Freuen. It is one of the artist’s vessels created using slab building, rolled textures, and wheel-throwing techniques. This piece resembles an elephant, with a spout like a trunk and a miniature teapot perched on the lid like birds that ride on an elephant’s back.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools.
About the Artist
Ceramic and mixed media artist Gina Freuen incorporates multiple techniques into her intricate works of pottery. These techniques include hand building, wheel throwing, pressing, carving, and hand drawing.
Freuen lives and works in Spokane, Eastern Washington, where she teaches at Gonzaga University.
