About the Artwork
Islamic Circuitry is a layered, abstracted painting by artist Sidonie Caron. This painting is a departure from her earlier paintings based on patterns of Islamic carpets. She notes, “I saw a relationship between the geometric interlacing Islamic patterns and the patterns of the electronic circuitry seen on highly magnified views of computer chips…thus a whole new ‘computer series’ of paintings was born.” Caron has long been fascinated by Islamic carpets and their infinite variety in design.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools.
