About the Artwork
Years of Corn I is a quilt created by artist Rachel Brumer. She created it using hand-dyed fabrics with appliqued, screen printed, and stenciled pieces. Describing the theme of corn, she states, "To some, corn is the symbol of the fertility of the earth, and also the inner fertility of the enlightened mind." Roman numerals at the top of the quilt suggest a connection between the past and the future.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Oakville School District.
