About the Artwork

Stand Tall by Myron Curry features a group of diverse young adults standing confidently amidst a cityscape. They represent the resilience and visibility they can achieve, despite their past. The painting also features the quote: "Rise like a skyscraper, stand tall, and be seen." and resonates with the idea of what this transition space at Green Hill School can mean for the residents. The artwork allows the residents to see themselves in the imagery but also as a part of the fabric of their community. Curry focused careful attention on clothing choices, stance, size, and expression. He wants to celebrate determination and achievement, encouraging the Green Hill School youth to persist on their journey toward personal growth and success. The imagery reflects their spirit of resilience, reminding them that their efforts will lead them to brighter and more fulfilling futures.

This is one of two paintings by Myron Curry for Green Hill School. These murals reflect Curry's dedication to inclusivity, empowerment, and fostering connections within the community.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
