About the Artwork

Jennifer Corio and Dave Frei’s Walk of Wonder is a sculpture made up of 3 separate parts. The themes for each part can be considered in their literal or scientific sense, as well as metaphors for life in general. “Caterpillar and Butterfly” symbolizes growth, transformation, and dreaming big. In the center is “Seed Sprout” and it represents sowing seeds and new beginnings. “Taking Flight” is about a sense of joy, freedom, and friendship. The playful sculptures brighten up the functional space and urge students to explore their world. Corio and Frei note that “There is no one right way to view art and life, which in itself is a great lesson. To honor the fact that each student learns and views the world differently, we use various life forms to convey Joy and Wonder – Plant, Animal, and Human.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Puyallup School District.
