About the Artwork

Artist Pieter VanZanden created Muscle Ligament Study using unexpected materials. Twigs form the ligaments of a human hand, bounded together with zip ties and wire. Curator Kathleen Garrett selected this artwork as part of a curated collection for Peninsula College in Port Angeles. The artworks installed in the Allied Health Building emphasize bright colors and unusual materials. This building is used for Nursing and Early Childhood Education programs.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Peninsula College.

About the Artist

Northwest artist Pieter VanZanden creates sculptures from a variety of media. His work explores changes in the environment due to ‘‘technology, pollution, overpopulation, and government control.”
