About the Artwork
River Portraits, Vine Maple is part of a series of four steel sculptures created by artist team Jean Whitesavage and Nick Lyle. The portraits depict some of the native birds and plant species found in wetland habitats of the Skagit River basin in Northwestern Washington. The artists note, "from forest to farm the river has enriched its environs, creating habitat for many creatures. This artwork celebrates the connection of water and land to life.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Sedro-Woolley School District.
