About the Artwork
Artist Adam Kuby’s sculptural installation ‘Drop’ represents the force of gravity. It is located in the STEM Building at Clark College and is inspired by the gravity experiments that can be done in the building's "drop tower". STEM learning is based on the four topics of science, technology, engineering and math. Kuby’s installation is made of six groups of identical objects, in a range of shapes and materials. The objects were dropped from different heights of up to sixty feet. The artwork represents the experiments and results. Kuby notes "the artwork is a dynamic and dramatic series of shapes that directly relate to many of the different STEM disciplines...Together the forms create an ever-changing experience as one moves through the building's various spaces and levels."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Clark College.
About the Artist
Portland, Oregon-based artist Adam Kuby creates landscape-based public art installations that respond to the interaction between built and natural environments. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of North Carolina in 1992.
