About the Artwork

Presented at two magnifications, Benson Shaw's "Wood Anatomy" depicts the intricate, lacelike cellular structure of wood. The artwork suggests that investigation can be limitless, one can always look deeper and learn more.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Seattle Central College.

About the Artist

Seattle-based artist Benson Shaw creates sculptures and architectural installations for public places in a variety of media. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Colorado College and a Master of Arts degree in sculpture and art history from the University of New Mexico.
