Location: Puyallup High School, Puyallup

About the Artwork

Frank Video's Journey documents and celebrates the history of Puyallup High School, the local community, and present-day people and places. The installation presents local images and stories via ninety porthole windows. Through interviews and research with school staff, alumni, and an historic society, the artist collected a variety of images and information. He laser-etched selected images and text into round mirrors. The mirrors are set inside of round porthole windows to create the seventy-foot wide, nine-foot tall installation. Video notes that the installation “transforms the high school building into a vessel on a journey through time and events reflecting their present and their past.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Puyallup School District.
