Location: Union High School, Camas

About the Artwork

Artist team Jim Hirschfield and Sony Ishii’s Re-Union addressed the importance of learning and communication. At the center of this sculpture, Union High School's original school bell is found inside of the large, hollow cube. The school bell is a communication tool that marked the beginning and end of the school day for many decades. Surrounding the cube are three perforated metal screens that contain photo-etched images of the original Union High School building and its students and history. The screens also have slate chalkboards and colorful chalk, to give students a chance to add their own ideas, images, and text to the artwork.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.
