About the Artwork
Artist Regina Loch-Elvert’s painting Forest shows the beauty of the Oregon landscape. Her composition references the work of Flemish Renaissance painter Pieter Bruegel during the early 1500s. She describes the Bruegel painting that inspired her as having “a somber and mysterious feeling, which made a deep impression on me. It then was my intention to paint a landscape with this kind of impact in expression and a landscape with a powerful sky.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
